On July 30, 1975, just before he was to appear on a LA TV show, Hoffa mysteriously disappeared. Hoffa was a man with powerful friends and more powerful enemies. He had connections in government, big business and allegedly had connections in the mafia. He was loved, hated, feared, respected, and finally betrayed. The implications of this case reach far beyond what the newspapers have reported. The impact will be felt not only by teamsters, but by every citizen in the coming union and national elections. This book is a special investigative report. THIS COPY IS USED.
Sugar needle is so sweet it will rot your teeth! But it keeps your brain fueled and ready to go. In this issue, Dishwasher Pete is interviewed about his new books, his zines, and of course candy. Also, the candy: sherbet fountain, sinbad sweets, plopp, and sofa surprise candy. The latter being as gross as it sounds.
A hand-colored zine about imaginary candies the authors want to see in real life! Like full-size waffles made of chocolate, and a chocolate chess set. These ladies love candy and in this issue they let their imaginations run wild.
Originally published in 1986, this was revised and expanded in 1989. It's a booklet intended to help people take back the homes that have been taken away from them by government and business. Dedicated to Eleanor Bumpurs and to the East Fifth Street Squat. It's a step by step guide to setting up a squat from a perspective of living in New York City. It's broken down into chapters including how to form a group, finding a building, getting in, emergency repairs, lights, heat, and fire safety, makeshift toliets, and legal hassles. It includes some fantastic illustrations by Seth Tobocman.
I can't resist a witty interesting zine put out by British people. "Sweet Shop Syndicate" is like "Tape of Scary Noises" in that it has a bunch of diverse subject matter and forms of writing - all really enjoyable to read. There's 3 stories about train travel (Europe, Tokyo, London during the train station bombings), crazy and shocking stories of scars, finding out the company you temp for is evil, getting into art school (with a very funny cartoon to accompany), bikes, a sweet "garden news" profile and a couple of more cerebral arty pieces. This is a nice little zine for those with short attention spans and good to pack with you on public transit.
Especially cool grafiti styled art zine packaged in a plastic sleeve with a backing board and 3 color screen printed covers. #5 is limited to 250 copies. Trent and company present graffiti, photography, comics, and writing. Beautifully rendered artwork with photocopied insides that could stand alone even without the beautiful covers. Each issue also comes with a few stickers. #5 1/4 is a collection of Trent's drawings and artwork!
A cool knitting zine/magazine from Canada, "Take Back the Knit #2" contains 12 different knitting patterns. Included are patterns for: Fingerless Gloves, cat toys, a bike saddle cover, a glasses case, a spiral bound bag, a summery wrap, restraints, a buttonhole bag, a top down cardigan, flip flop socks, a needle roll, and a tit bit. There are color pictures of each completed project, as well as full color step by step instructions for dying yarn with kool-aid! "Take Back the Knit" also contains some articles on knitting, and some knitting zine reviews.
NH has written a zine so full of excitement and scariness like I have never before seen. It?s about alien abductions, written through the author?s personal experiences. It starts out with a disclaimer for the graphic images and another disclaimer taking no responsibility for potential bad dreams. Then it goes on to describe how the text of the zine has disappeared three times before being able to make it into zine format. If that?s not gripping enough, the next 29 pages contain detailed abductions that have continually happened to NH over 2 years. As this isn?t scary enough, the background images will be enough to keep you turning the pages (and not sleeping at night). I love that Taking Back the Night is written as a personal zine and not a sci-fi information zine. No solutions are offered and it doesn?t ?alienate? those who don?t believe in the paranormal, because it appears the author has a hard enough time believing it as well. Don?t read this zine if you are prone to nightmares. Read this zine if you?re drawn to the paranormal, or just want to know more or read an abnormal zine topic.
Tijs is a Belgian with an affity to Spanish culture putting together a unique and unusual gathering of stories and thoughts. Lots of musing about growing older in a punk/untraditional lifestyle, problems with girls, life's strange turns and death. There's also things just for fun: Chinese jokes (which I really dug), a story of the Cult on tour, a reprint of bizarre exchanges on a sex chat room. There's also the story of Nintendo (not for shareholders!), Terry the Picklepacker and reviews of caffeine. But it doesn't stop there! Also thrown into the pile are silly posi band interviews and music rants. Despite English being a second language this zine reads well, with insight, seriousness and humour that mixes smooth like peanutbutter and chocolate.
12 amazing songs of mindblowing nature metal. A lot of harmony, a lot of care, a lot of risk. Home recorded and full of everything that makes me feel brand new again on the most crushing days. Shares folks with Soophie Nun Squad. The custody battles are mean.
Musically, this band is reminiscent of British rock with some galloping beat thrown in a bit. If you are a fan of the Canadian rock band Styx, you will probably enjoy the vocal stylings of The Stranger Steals. Lyrics are quite "arty" but are a delicious compliment to the strange music.
Hipster rock-n-roll in the vein of a mix of Monorchid, Joy Division, Dianno-era Iron Maiden, and The Germs! This really does rock hard with no traces of pretension.
Great intro to the ideas of Class War that is sensible, straight-forward and informative. It aims to explain the basic background, history, and politics of the Class War Federation, and is meant as a jumping off point for developing your own ideas about class war.
