High Maintenance Machine #20 56 pgs, b&w, 1/4 size (3 oz) $3.00

High Maintenance Machine is crafted with much dedication every single month! Author Matthew depicts his relationship with his wife and his intense love of his cats in every issue, and it makes for an addictive pocket-sized zine. Alec Longstreth put it best when he said this zine moved up to "stop, drop, and read" status for him. No more putting it in the to-read pile.

This issue was 1/2 comics by Matthew, and 1/2 strips parodying his work and drawn by other people. It was part of contest in which anyone could enter to reproduce their best facimile of H.M.M. Not surprisingly, the cats are often the stars.

In #21: A nap, a crisis, road rage, and a whole lot of peas. Every day a different comic with a focus on the regular events in our lives. Reminds me of reading the Sunday funnies if the characters in the newspaper were anything like me or my friends.

High Maintenance Machine #22 40 pgs, b&w, 1/4 size (2 oz) * OUT OF STOCK *

I sort of can't believe this zine comes out every month. I guess that makes it sound like it magically appears. What I mean is, I can't believe that Matthew so diligently records each and every day of his life.

In #22: Visiting friends, pinky swears, and cheap wine vs. expensive wine. Also, Wendy graduates book binding school, and there's a bonus comic about a dragon who's happily in love with a princess, much to a knight's chagrin. This in particular is much funnier than I can make it sound. Matthew's dedication to comics is the real deal.

High Maintenance Machine #24 40 pages, 1/4 size (1 oz) * OUT OF STOCK *

Matthew claims this is the last issue of HMM with short daily comics. This issue marks two years of him dutifully churning out an issue per month and a comic per day! After this issue, he's gonna focus on longer stories. So enjoy while you can: being covered in ticks, webcams, slugs on the sidewalk, "hip-hop" dancing, and a Red Sox game.
