SPLIT WITH NOSE DIVE.
This issue of Crude Noise is a collection of Merrydeath's artwork with explanations for each and where they were printed. She does a very distinctive style of linocut prints with a lot of textures and detail. Icky (Nosedive) does similar prints in his half of the split. He served as Merrydeath's inspiration in the early days and does a lot of politically motivated art. Both sides are nothing short of breathtaking at moments; let the cover be an indication.
Meredith treats us to another issue of this creatively artistic creation. It's themed around recovery and collective structures with articles talking about the Nowe Miasto warehouse in New Orleans, Sparklepussy in Pittsburgh, having pets die, her brother getting over a drug addiction, invading an abandoned building, her family history, and some linocut artwork that is truly stunning. This issue gives you the feeling of achieving the goals of collectivism and getting over your problems while feeling like you can smell the musty warehouse.
Meredith Stern had some friends write stories and then traded the stories around to different people to illustrate someone else's story. This gets even more exciting when we learn that the players involve include Mike Taylor, Nicole Georges, Meredith Stern, Cindy Crabb, and Ally Reeves among others. The stories are comprised of dreams, short anecdotes, a quiick experience, or a thought. Fun and exciting!

Merry Death's first compilation of emotionally stunning women's stories (including a powerful one from Moe Bowstern!) dealing with clinical abortion, childbirth, forced sterilization, RU486, herbal abortion, illegal abortion, contraceptives, and more. It's a heavy read that will no doubt tear emotions also from the reader as well. There is a lot of text here and there is a certain amount of common threads among different stories that draws frustrations as well.
