During the holiday season it's very important to think about the labor that creates everything that you touch, purchase, and make use of to get through your day. Because of this, we have created the labour super pack to remind you of what creates wealth - On Subbing, Xtra Tuf, Secret Files of Captain Sissy, and Dreamwhip 14. Whether it's public school teaching, commercial fishing, steelworking, and providing water and supplies to immigrants crossing into Texas from Mexico, or cooking Food Not Bombs, this is a mixed bag of various accounts of labor with a $5 savings!
This is a collection of Moe Bowstern's (Xtra Tuf) writing that has appeared in other people's zines over the last ten years. She's a commercial fisherwoman and adventurer with plenty of stories and life experience to talk about. Beautiful linocut cover and introduction by Ursula K Leguin. This is a reprinted offset version with a new color scheme on the cover!
"Blessed with a wonderful gift for storytelling, Moe waxes poetic about the varied experiences she’s had over the years of fishing for Kodiak salmon. It’s a collection that, despite not being written as a whole, flows seamlessly, perhaps because of the common thread of fishing that runs through most of it, even in the stories where the fishing itself doesn’t take center stage. Highly recommended!" -Sean Stewart
Moe took a break from her usual zine, Xtra Tuf (about her job working on commercial fishing boats), to write and illustrate this collection of stories about bikes, traveling, work, and life. A collection of novenas -- nine-day prayers, often wrapped around candles. Each one-sided page has scratchy art and scratchy stories, calling upon strange gods, qualities, actions… "Accelerate Through Danger." "File In the Sky." "Compass." If you want to protect yourself, rid yourself, deal with something, energize yourself, or just need to be alone, this is the resource for you and there's instructions here to get attention from something that can help. Includes instructions for coloring the prayers. Moe is an incredible writer—funny, poignant, and quick to the point. Unique and neat.
This zine is about commercial fishing and if that doesn't seem interesting to you, you'd have another thing coming. Moe is an amazing storyteller and reveals much about the history of commercial fishing in Alaska in a very descriptive personable way. She tells great stories of the crews she's been involved with and their dynamics as well being a woman involved in a very male dominated profession. Moe has a passion for fishing and the sea and she shares this with you in her zine. If you can imagine, there aren't a lot of zines like this. This is her story of being on the job and "how she got xtra tough". The newest from Moe is a collection of writing she did for other zines over the last 10 years called "Second Set Out". Includes a foreward Ursula K Leguin. (children's author)

This is her story of being on the job and "how she got xtra tuf" on a few different episodes of labor disagreements that held up work (technically not "strikes") over many years. A new issue of Xtra Tuf that's audible! It's a CD of Moe telling stories about her life as a commercial fisher-woman. Moe sings songs too, and does spoken word like pieces. This CD answers the question, "Does Moe want to get you in a skiff?" The answer is yes! This is for fans of fishing and being sung to sleep.
