Opening with a Phillip K Dick quote about love, Nate dishes out another hot issue of his auto-biographical comic about his own personal love life and problems. A comic segue between relationships past and present, playing scrabble, a little cameo by Joe, a trip to the doctor, and the newest saga of the "guilty cheapass". Nathan is equal parts entertainment, subject matter to ponder, and relatable relationship episode. Ahhh, to feel normal through reading comics.
A poorly drawn saga of Nate's failure to woo back his ex.
Nathan draws pretty pictures to tell the stories of his unlucky romances and self deprecating humor. Beautiful line drawings and halftones. This issue focuses on his ten year high school reunion and a Scooby Do style fictional story about a group of hipsters who get stranded in the country and are inept at solving problems. Nathan has a very consistent style of drawing and humor. The thing that strikes me most about his drawings is the way he puts a lot of detail into things like power lines.

This issue focuses on a period when he moved back to Orcas Island to do landscaping work, being sick, and being alone in a beautiful landscape. BFF: Brainfag Forever! collects nearly a decade of Nate Beaty's self-published comics. Brainfag is a medical term for "brain fatigue," culled from a turn-of-the-century Grape-Nuts ad. Nate uses comics to explore self-expression, love and love lost, urban existence versus living off the grid, balancing art and coding on the computer, and generally maintaining sanity in a world gone mad. Featuring extensive new material explaining each issue, including the first 25 years of his life in five pages! Climb inside the head of a cartoonist using comics as cheap therapy.

A defining force in the auto-bio comics world (as well as being chief database code writer of Microcosm), Nate Beaty presents the world with a new tale of love and loss via the creation of a mixtape for a new, (implied) potential love. A fun and cute story detailing all of the steps of his mix tape creation. Move over Thurston Moore and welcome Nate Beaty as the authority on mix tape creation!
Nathan and Jeremy create this personal zine with strong literary leanings. Content in this issue includes an interview with Nathan's brother the cop, Nate's dissection of his poverty that still allows him to be immersed in electronics, consumption, having divorced parents, a long article about George W Bush, and a trip out to Portland's exotic 82nd ave. There's tons of text here but it's broken up nicely by Nathan's line artwork.
