Hodgepodge of comics that fills Shawn's brain and serves as an escape valve for his misplaced creativity. Some fictional, some humor, some serious, sometimes a vague basis of real events or autobiographical storylines. Rich and bold lines simulates the strong cup of coffee in Shawn's blood. This is the collection "best of" issue. Some of the comics had me downright laughing or flinching at humanity. And no, that is NOT Emelia Earhart on the cover! (Bonus points if you can figure out who it might be.)

PedalPalooza is 2-plus weeks of bike fun in Portland, Oregon. Born out of Bikesummer 2002, PedalPalooza occurs every year in June. In 2005 it happened June 9-25. Over 100 bicycle related events happened in that period of time! Everything from your typical lycra stuff (time trials, road races), to your typical Gracies-styled rides (food rides aplenty, breakfast on the bridges, midnight mystery ride, atomic war preparedness ride), and of course, bike craziness (Zoobomb, Critical Mass, Multnomah County Fair).
We've managed to grab a few of the remaining souvenir posters. The poster was printed by Stumptown Printers, the same people who print the "Celebrate People's History" posters. Get yourself a copy!
A quick, cursory window into bicycle haps in the city of roses. All the questions you wanted answered but were afraid to ask. Simple things like how to navigate the city, bicycling tips, some of the funnier and more unique aspects to biking in Portland, riding safety, regular bicycle events and groups, some neat illustrations, bike shops, and plenty more to appease a curious mind. Great for people visiting or moving to town. Even interesting for those who would likely never venture to Portland, just to see what is going on here.
The first "zine" zine from a guy who's made a career out of comics and info-tainment type publications. Shawn (Ten Foot Rule, Zinester's Guide to Portland) Granton took a big-arsed cross-the continent trip in fall of 2005, some of it by bicycle, most of it by train. Follow Shawn along as he observes things like bicycle culture in other cities, sells zines and comics at various events (and feels inferior in the process), immerses himself in new cities, tries to bike tour across the upper Midwest with a woefully inappropriate bicycle and not enough preparation, and goes broke once or twice along the way.
Spring Cleaning! I found these in the closet. This is from the era when TEN FOOT RULE issues were NUMBERED, rather than having different arty subtitles, like Treatment Prolifification or somesuch. This is also from the era when I was living with my mom back east, something like another lifetime. Some of the comics from this issue from early 2000 were reprinted in 3.05 METRES, most of them weren't. This may be the last time you'll ever see these lost comics, for what it's worth. (Did I really draw like that back then? Yes I did.) Includes a comic from Sarah Oleksyk of Roadside Comics (who also drew the cover to last year's Microcosm catalog) and a "poem" by Ric-O Rosa, former confidant (whatever happened to him?) For extra fun, read through the Plugs section and figure out how many of those addresses are still good, seven years later. (at least two) Guess how many are still making zines, and who moved to Portland. Historical zine games are fun. Get this now, because there's only a few left, and it's even cheaper than a patch! Of course, you can't wear a zine...(Shawn)
"A Ten Foot Rule Supplement". Shawn cleaned out his closet and found some of these "old" (from 2003) comics. This stuff got later reprinted in THIS AIN'T NO ANTHOLOGY, which is...out of print! (Sort of. Out of print until he gets The Copy Lady to print more.) A comic about his confusion over the obsession with Pabst beer, fear of earthquakes and nuclear attacks, learning to appreciate expensive, organic groceries, Shawn's employment history, appreciating Portland, OR, tips for eating cheap on the road, and frustration with the repetition of rock and roll. GET THIS ONE AT IT'S SPECIAL SALE PRICE OF 50 CENTS! There's only a few left...(List alternates, please!)
It's amazing what you find when you clean out the closet! This one I made in February of 2000, as a "special" for the upcoming Alternative Press Expo I was attending. There's three comix in here, two of which got reprinted in 3.05 METRES, the one that wasn't is a scathing satire on college radio deejays. I haven't done scathing like this in a long, long time. I also haven't drawn like this in a long time, which is a very good thing. Some of the art is cringeworthy, but hey, this this is ONLY A QUARTER! Get it now, because there's only a few left, and after that, this will be gone forever...(Shawn)
Hodgepodge of comics that fills Shawn's brain and serves as an escape valve for his misplaced creativity. Rich and bold lines simulates the strong cup of coffee in Shawn's blood. A beautiful, mullet-ed picture of Shawn from 13 years ago opens this issue followed by a comic guide on how to set up a DIY zine tour and Shawn's own experiences, Gran-ton's responses to letters about the local paper badmouthing expansion of public transit (Portland's Max light rail system), some out of context quotes, a fictional space adventure, and more. Highly enjoyable. Shawn knows to make me laugh and smile and sometimes brings me falafels.
This volume combines both "Treatment Bound" and "Complex Ification Strategory" into one volume. Two compilation specials of Ten Foot Rule put together! Complex Ification Stategory was made just in time for the COPY AND DESTROY zine tour of January 2003! Contains pieces that previously appeared in Read Magazine, Clamor Magazine, Razorcake Magazine, and more! A comic about his confusion over the obsession with Pabst beer, fear of earthquakes and nuclear attacks, learning to appreciate expensive, organic groceries, Shawn's employment history, appreciating Portland, OR, tips for eating cheap on the road, and frustration with the repetition of rock and roll. Join Shawn as he travels the country back and forth on Amtrak. All that you've grown to expect and more!

Shawn Granton, co author of the Zinester's Guide to Portland, compiled this zine of historical bike tours through Portland, Oregon. Shawn is a meticulous researcher of both obscure histories and bike routes so this seems a natural fit. These guides are used for actual tours that Shawn conducts with groups of fellow adventurers. This zine collects these previous mini-guides: Alameda Ridge, Eastside Theater, South Portland, and Council Crest. This zine even comes with a fold out map of the routes just in case you get lost while following the step-by-step directions. Did we mention that Shawn is meticulous?
Granton does it again with well-drawn daily diary comics about Portland and trotting/biking around North America. Shawn reflects on the medium, his volume of productivity or lack thereof, an Amtrak trip to parts east, going to comic and zine events, researching and writing an article about Critical Mass and Bike Summer in his hometown of New Haven, CT, a series of self addressed postcards, and much more. Nice to see some regular output from this zine artist.
Shawn Granton (Ten Foot Rule) and Nate Beaty (Brainfag Comics) edited a new, 4th edition of this really comprehensive guide of things to do in Portland, OR. Features tons of information on various neighborhoods, bridges, eateries, hangouts, bars, places that sell zines, as well as information on how to bicycle and navigate in Portland. A crucial resource for those visiting the city or surprises for those that have lived here for years. Also includes great line drawings by Nate Beaty, Chris Larson, Tim Root, Dylan Williams, Chris Cilla, Carolyn Main, Malady, Khris Soden, and more! A long awaited treat! ISBN 0-9770557-2-8
