The first international tribunal on the crimes against women was held at the Palais des Congres in Brussels, Belgium, from March 4-8, 1976. Over 2,000 women from 40 countries gathered for this historic event. They were not appointed by parties, nor by nations, nor by any political or economic group. It was as women that they expressed themselves. By transcending overwhelming differences in nationality, culture, class, race, sexual preference, age, and politics, women from around the world moved their struggle for liberation into an international context. This is the story of what happened at the tribunal.
