"Portland Amusement" provides a nice little escape from the blase, boozy, hipster-oriented PDX of modern times, reflecting on the city's rich history of beaches, roller coasters, fun houses, dance halls, and other fantastic amusements. Composed of pictures and antique quotations defiantly lifted from a local historic society, the reader is captivated by weird tales of a stunt man who performed with "his clothes in A MASS OF FLAME", a pesticide fountain, rollerskating marathons, and people actually swimming in the Willamette (!!). Great for history geeks, Portlanders, young and old alike.
