Guide to Steel Bikes 30 pages, b&w, 1/2 legal (2 oz) * OUT OF STOCK *

Guide to Steel Bikes is super educational and interesting. It's everything you might want to know about the history of steel frames and why they're great. Cool diagrams and explanations of various processes for making steel frames like forging, investment casting, and stamped steel parts. Just tons of clip art depicting different frame types, bottom bracket types, different cranksets and hubs. There's even a short history of the Suntour, a bike you've probably had at one time or maybe you just wondered why they were everywhere. Here's where you'll finally find the answer. Guide to Steel Bikes is cut and paste eye-candy for bike nerds!

I actually made this like 3 months ago. I focused on older bikes because that's what most of us are riding; also, it's much more cost effective to get a good older/used bike or component than to buy something new. I could go on for a while with criticisms of the bicycle industry and some of the trends within it. In the future, I'm going to make a much-expanded version or sequel to the zine where I address some newer technologies & assosciated concerns. As well as a lot of other things, like wheels, rims, and tires/rolling resistance. If anyone has a copy of an earlier Zine that's similar, I'd like to see it. Lindsey
this was compiled in 1994 i do believe, but fortunately bikes haven't changed too much. and, the knowledge one can gain from this zine beyond useful to anyone entering, existing, or just curious about bike culture and/or reducing their carbon footprint. the zine is completely gorgeous as well. kga
