Patch #079: Prisons, America's Finest Slave Plantations
4x5", screenprint on canvas (0.10 oz)
$1.00
i was in prison for 3 years. no one forced anyone to work. people choose to work because the .05-.45 an hour was all of the support some of these people had. black, white, hispanic-everyone was in the same shit situation. people do their time in different ways, but i never saw anyone forced to work, most did it to kill time, earn money, and maintain some sense of normalacy and productivity in their lives.

Exactly the point! You have a choice, either stare at the bars all day, or work. It's exactly like the choice, rather the threat, that is given to the modern wage-slave: wage slavery, or starvation.
travis
I did a 17 year bid in prison. Nobody made me work doing anything I didn't want to do. Where I was, it was either work or stare at the bars. Beefin' about how life is so unfair is a copout. Either do something about your situation, or shut up and wait for the next check to show up.

Indeed. People who don't know what prison is like will find this racist. Read up about slavery and read up on prison life. You find the two eerily similar...
One Black Female in the US
It's not making a racist statement, but rather commenting on the labor prisoners do whilst doing time.
Javy
What are you talking about? If you read closely in the constitution, it states that the ONLY precedent that allows slavery in Amerikkka is in the prison industry. I agree with this patch because I am Black, and I have experienced first hand the racist judicial and prison system. The prison population of Blacks is over 75%, and only 20% of Black men are in college. Blacks only make up a tiny percentage in the US, but are WELL over the majority of prison inmates. Besides, I mean come on...prisoners work for the rich from sun up to sundown, with no pay. Sounds like slavery? Just as the cotton clothes of the rich were stained with the blood of the slaves of yesterday, your license plate is stained with the blood of today's slaves. p.s- i guess the only way this patch can be "racist" is if one has no idea what its like to step into a Black mans shoes.

What the fuck? You shouldn't have this on here, it's fucking racist.
