Pin #068: Your Heritage is Hate 1" (0.10 oz) * OUT OF STOCK *

Here's one comment from the South. The south has had decades of coming to terms with the raging racism here. And we haven't gotten rid of it. But we realize its there, and make a concerted effort to at least make t less common. And as far as Southern folks and the confederate flag: ya don't talk about it unless you want a fight, there isn't a consensus, even among the angry white folks. Here's the last I'll say: the mountain people, up in North Georgia, North Alabama and North Carolina didn't own slaves, because they didn't have plantations or any land at all really, and hid out the war in the mountains. An here's something to bend you're minds if you equate Southern leaders with racism and slavery: "So far from engaging in a war to perpetuate slavery, I am rejoiced that Slavery is abolished. I believe it will be greatly for the interest of the South. So fully am I satisfied of this that I would have cheerfully lost all that I have lost by the war, and have suffered all that I have suffered to have this object attained." -Robert E. Lee Crawdad
MOst of that heritage is surrounded with greed and hate. However, one must realize just becuase one is born from that prticular heritage, does not mean they have the same hate. Ish
Anarcho, you're assuming that "we" who read this are not indigenous to the americas - if you're not indigenous, then you are part of the overculture, my friend. Red Earth
I don't like it when people refer to the oppressors as "we". Such as "We have been bombing iraq for years" because "we" didn't do anything. You and I are part of the resistors, not oppressors, so be proud of it, and state it! (THEY are racist) Anarcho Petoris
Looks like you've had an effect* :) *By this I mean in getting the pin changed from the confederate flag, not me endorsing racism. Seb
I agree. I grew up in georgia and now having lived in nevada and california, there is more racism out here than anywhere, including the south. resa
Well stated. People rarely stop to think about that, they are too busy bashing the arabs. anonymous
A pin exactly like this except with an american flag would be great. We point to the south and we point to the confederacy and say "racism!" but we really need to look at ourselves, at the country that most of us, I assume, are in, and see that we too are racist. duckie
