Rainbow Man / John 3:16 DVD 70 minutes + 3 shorts! DVD (5 oz) $25.00 $20.00

Did you ever watch sports in the late '70s or early '80s? If you, so probably saw "Rainbow Man" standing in the middle of the camera on the stands shaking his booty, tugging on his mustache, or later on - dropping banners with his wife that read "JOHN 3:16" or "JESUS SAVES". This wildman, who created a celebrity persona for himself through exploiting the loopholes of Television, went on to star in commercials and fund his dreams of stardom - traveling the world attending sporting events and living the high life of the late 1970s. This all took a sudden downward spiral when he discovered Jesus and that led him to holding a cleaning lady hostage for 9 hours and receiving 3 life sentences. This is the best effort at telling his full story and filling in the cracks.

Sam Green (The Weather Underground) also treats us with some bonus shorts - the highlight being one about an early act of film activism: PIE FIGHT '69 about a staged piece of performance art at the SF film festival! The Fabulous Stains is about a soon forgotten Hollywood movie featuring members of The Clash and Sex Pistols that was dropped as soon as it was released. It documents an all female alternative band and is said to represent the period frustration of women in rock better than any other movie.

Overall, this is the most straight forward DVD we've seen from Other Cinema and feel like it well represents the subject matter and makes for a very exciting set of experiences! Watch the trailer!
