What I Learned About US Foreign Policy DVD DVD (7 oz) $16.00

An extensive video about US Foreign Policy discussing Martin Luther King's opposition to the war in Vietnam, John Stockwell on the CIA's war against the 3rd world, Nazis hired as American spies, CIA covertly attempting to overthrow democratic governments of Iran, Guatamala, Cuba, Vietnam, Chile, Nicaragua, Brazil, and Uganda, employing the mafia to fight Castro, Sanctions against Iraq, and the Iran-Contra scandal among much more information. Many hours of stunning video and facts; this could possibly be the most inflammatory item that we carry!

I just watched this DVD... it inspired a rant in form of essay: How can we be so passive when people are dying every day, bleeding on the streets, being starved and maimed by governments with only their own goals in mind? How can we be so isolated from our fellow human beings? We are all alike. We are all people, and when we lose that connection, our world falls apart. Without compassion, without unity, we fall apart into bits of blood and bone upon the face of this beautiful planet. Many of us live lives of isolation, driving to and from various errands and entertainments, unwittingly consuming oil begotten of thousands of Iraqi lives. Many of us are sedated each day by the constant barrage of advertisements and distractions that emanate from our television sets. We live day to day, preferring NOT to know about the misdeeds of our governments, the lies told to us by our media. We prefer to take their word for it, instead of taking the time to do heavy research and to then face the hard truths that are unearthed. And then, when the truth lies naked and shivering, bloated and bloody, we would still run away. We would cringe and cry, and send our hearts out to the poor people who have been so heartlessly mistreated... all from the comfort of our living rooms. It has become too much to ask that we detach ourselves from the air conditioned safeties of our everyday life. It has become too much to sacrifice one’s comfort, one’s peace of mind, and especially one’s life to fight for others’. Why? Do we think ourselves immune from these injustices? Is there a ‘keep your head down and you’ll be alright’ mentality? Or is it diffusion of responsibility? Perhaps, deep down, we just keep hoping that someone else will do it for us. With knowledge comes responsibility. Responsibility to others cannot be achieved by passively reclining on your couch. Perhaps that is why so many of us prefer to stay in the dark. Perhaps blissful ignorance has become our favored way of life. Perhaps, if we ignore it, the problem will go away. Then all the people who we would not help would be blissful too. Wake up. Aina
