Brandon Rocks typically writes short, funny anecdotal stories but this issue is his equivalent to Springsteen's "Human Torch", a significant departure reaching for new ideas and avenues in the form of telling sad, embarrassing, and sappy stories; A real downer.
The most gripping were not understanding directions in kindergarten, going to the pop machine at the police station as the only form of entertainment in town, a girl with a gigantic knife wound in her belly, getting caught by your principal outside of school and getting suspended for refusing to put on shoes, failing in an attempt to be a bully, deaths, being secretive at the zine store, and much more. This issue gives much more depth and character to Brandon even when he just looks like a total asshole. File under: Touched by an Anvil, Pick Your Poison, You Idiot, OJ Killed Elvis. This would make great bathroom reading for its quick reads.
