Katja turned her thesis about email lists into a series of zines. She conducted a study of people who use email lists for activism and figured out what works for them and what doesn't. This is zine #1 of the series. Inside is: Which type of lists are conductive to subscriber participation, frequently ignored concerns regarding subscribe and unsubscribe activities, how to increase subscriber security, and the roles of the welcome message, list protocol, shared goals and a sense of community in prompting subscribers to be active.
