Robert Eggplant's zine anthology covered in a 1" thick book. Pieces by Larry Livermore, Aaron Cometbus, and many more adding their part to this essential history of East Bay punk rock! This book is great bathroom reading material combining 11 years of Robert's zine. It is rather hard to read in one sitting due to the fact that a lot of the pages are taken from the original zines and there isn't a lot of continuity among pages though it's got a got plenty of gems littered along the way to keep you reading. Essential bathroom reading material!

He truly feels that Ebay will make lives better and serve as a tool for our generation to overcome massive layoffs and lack of job security. James G, a volunteer at the Wooden Shoe bookstore in Philadelphia writes about the history of the store, from it's opening in 1976, to it's current incarnation. It's a really fascinating zine that touches on all kinds of universal themes, like a store's accessibility to the general community and a store's political identity. James has collected the stories of long-time collective members, as well as people who worked there before his time. There are unexpected perils in running a political bookstore. Who could predict that some staff members would become Situationalists and flood the Wooden Shoe because they were "commodifying dissent?" Read all about the store catching fire, running a store on Anarchist ideals, and Anarchist study groups!
Sascha Scatter's zine about his personal experience shopping for, converting, and thoughts surrounding switching to a greasecar (a car with a converted diesel engine that runs on used vegetable oil). The text mostly involves his stream of consciousness thoughts and what led him to the decision.
A convincing argument for a world without prisons. It strives to teach criminals to re appropriate their acts, believing people do not want to abandon their lives to social authority. It's an optimistic look considering everyone to be specific individuals with specific needs and wanting to think about their lives.
In the spirit of the classic "Take Me Back" zine/compilation, this new work collected by Nate Powell showcases the same intentions towards grassroots communication and expression of the punk scene outside of just music. Features Erin Tobey, Travis Fristoe, Al Burian, Nate Powell, Mike Taylor, Emil Heiple, Farel Dalrymple, and Meredith Gaydosh. Themes explored include rejection, reading science fiction books, the one-sided conversation next to you on an airline, psychic powers, and and heartbreak. Beautiful. The compilation features 24 tracks from bands associated with Nate's Harlan Records as well as several Plan-it X bands as well.
Am I Mad...???? is a beautiful and moving zine focusing on mental illness. Eian claims that it was written as a counterpoint to the mainstream history of mental health, and to provide suggestions for dealing with stress and depression. The pages fly by, each one holding a different rumination on mental health, and incorporating a relevant drawing. Far from seeming disjointed, each page flows to the next creating a deep and varied narrative that's difficult to put down. It is the political and emotional dose of reality that we all sometimes need. It's a friendly reassurance that perhaps we aren't so mad, and that maybe, the whole world has gone crazy.
So we're paying attention and it seems what people want more than anything are more pamphlets on Anarchism. With great excitement then we introduce a zine focused on Anarcho-Syndicalism. It's an impassioned defense of the movement against criticism, and of course a scathing look at the State. Contains a good bit of history too, including Socialism and Anarcho-Syndicalism in France, and Anarcho-Syndicalism since the first World War.
A wide ranging interview, conducted by the Irish anarchist journal Red & Black Revolution in 1995, exploring Noam's introduction to, and views on, the above.
Everything you ever wanted to know about anarchism but were afraid to ask. A new revised and updated edition of the definitive pocket primer. From the historical background and justification of anarchism, to the class struggle, organization and the role of an anarchist in an authoritarian society, this slim volume walks the reader through the salient points, theory and practice of this much maligned philosophy. From workers' self defense to the myth of taxation, the second half of the book runs through the gamut of objections and queries from Marxist-Leninists, liberal democrats, fascists, and the average person. If you're constantly wishing you were better informed, or just mildly curious, this is the place to start.

A short introduction to the subject, ideas, and ideals by Emma Goldman. The history of human growth and development is at the same time the history of the terrible struggle of every new idea heralding the approach of a brighter dawn. In its tenacious hold on tradition, the Old has never hesitated to make use of the foulest and cruelest means to stay the advent of the New, in whatever form or period the latter may have asserted itself. Nor need we retrace our steps into the distant past to realize the enormity of opposition, difficulties, and hardships placed in the path of every progressive idea. The rack, the thumbscrew, and the knout are still with us; so are the convict's garb and the social wrath, all conspiring against the spirit that is serenely marching on.
The economics/experience of the Spanish anarchist collectives 1936-39. A rare and welcome look at economics from an anarchist perspective.
Just what the title says; what to do if being interrogated by the police!
Moxie is a lot of things, including a boat punk, a video maker, and a zine writer. He's a great writer of the Cometbus-y genre without seeming like a rip off, and pays homage to Crimethinc-like narratives without seeming like a hack. Both of which are really hard to do! Moxie travels, settles down, and shares some stories of years past including a scabies tale. It also turns out his school would reward kids by letting them inside a Money Machine, you know, the booth with the money flying around in it? Hilarious. One of my new favorites.

Almost 60 pages of well-researched information about Mexico/US border issues! This zine provides thoughtful and intelligent responses to daily news stories of atrocities committed against immigrants on the border. Sally(We Need to Eat zine), our author, hails from Maricopa County, Arizona, where this issue is constantly at the forefront of the local news. Every day people are arrested, deported, and killed in order to "protect the border." Here Sally helps to tell those stories, and provides a lengthy list of resources for those looking to get more involved.
A Spanish Language version of Support zine! Cindy enlisted the help of a whole slew of friends to help translate Support into Spanish so it would be available to even more people than before! It's the original zine in its entirety. Here's the original listing for Support in case you haven't seen it: In a time when sexual assault and abuse are an increasing problem; even in so-called radical and punk communities, and when most women have been sexually abused in one way or another, Cindy Crabb (Doris Zine) brings us a document showing ways to prevent sexual violence and support survivors of sexual abuse. The zine helps to define consent, some letters that Cindy has received, listening, talking about sex, power dynamics, comics by Fly, and much more! A crucial resource that reads much like a regular issue of Doris.
“One night while rooting through the recycling bin for magazines, I found all the confidential Ph.D. applicant files for the biology department at an Ivy League university from the years 1965-1975. Stapled to many of the yellowed documents were photographs of the prospective students. They were treasures! I tore through the folders and rescued every portrait I could find. I had to have them. Only later did I realize I had to publish them”.
So begins the preface to Jesse Reklaw’s Applicant. A priceless time-bomb of pop culture, Reklaw serves a compelling and secret look into an impossibly lost era. The book collects photos from the 1970s paired with accompanying comments from employers and professors. The results are absurdist, confusing, often hilarious and disturbing.
Applicant provides unique insight into outdated 1970s social attitudes and ephemera (under one girl’s photo: “Weakness: she is a female, and an attractive, modest one, so is bound to marry”). Much of the book’s appeal however is found in what the book fails to say: the blank and despondent stares of it’s subjects, the outdated fashions and hairstyles and it’s understated text. Equal parts Ann Taintor and Found Magazine, Applicant is one of those books you read once and then want to show everyone. In fulfilling Jesse's dream, we've republished this as a tiny paperback book! An inspiring and captivating read from Joshua Ploeg (Behead the Prophet, Mukilteo Faeries, Lords of Lightspeed, and much much more!). Learn about his history and plenty of stories about absurd performance art and band concepts that he acknowledged as a joke and subjected audiences to in Olympia, Seattle, and on tour! Joshua is now a touring vegan chef (see "Thinkin, Stinkin, Rarely Drinkin Microcosm Tour 2006") and we get to learn about all of his post punk roots here. The stories are funny - some successes, some failures, some misunderstood efforts, but it's great to hear about his mom worried people hurting him as the audience piled on him in full costume while singing for Behead the Prophet or the inside joke story behind a flyer design concept. We get to learn how some jokey concepts originated as harmless words on a flyer that transformed into a collaborative band or performance piece. My favorite is the show celebrating all of the characters who frequently attend shows but don't perform themselves to have an opportunity to do something for an audience. A true genius, that Mr. Ploeg.
Reprint of the classic collection of liberation articles for kids. From theory, to motherhood, to school, to resistance, and beyond. A vital introduction to a largely ignored topic.
This zine focuses on a billion reasons to oppose the Assholes, Politicians, Economists and Cops that APEC really stands for. This title best lends itself to a thorough elucidation of structures that allow APEC, and its like, to happen. Assholes, Politicians, Economists and Cops are by no means mutually exclusive. This is a huge construction explaining in depth the way that APEC affects developing countries and people. It includes about a hundred political cartoons related to the topics, descriptions of human rights abuses, patriarchy, white supremacy, the unaccountability of politicians and law enforcement, military tribunals, media control, doctors and pharmaceuticals, and tons more! This is tremendously educational even beyond it's presentation on the dangers of APEC, 'globalization', and the political and economic systems behind it: They use APEC as an example of international globalization trade deals, and as a convenient acronym for the Assholes, Politicians, Economists and Cops that are causing so many people of this world grave hardship. Describes what Assholes, Politicians, Economists and Cops do, how they exploit and harm us; providing many examples and references. The zine is meant to be a mirror of our society: Kill the cop inside you. And the asshole, politician and economist while you're at it. Anti-copyrighted 2002.

Keith is a fabulous storyteller ever and boy does he have stories to tell! Plenty about being broke beyond broke, getting into brawls, taking care of his friends, getting drunk, male privilege, and having guns pointed at him. This issue is another collection of stories and reviews - teaching preteens to play sports in down and out schools, learning the important rule "don't piss where you eat", atrocious kids on the bus, comic book nerds that turn into total thugs, having to live down the poetry that you write ten years prior, and a loose acquaintence dying. Don't get me wrong though, Keith has some knowledge and understanding kicking around his brain, probably from just kicking planet Earth for awhile and he seems to have learned a lot from the hardcore community, doing artwork for Submission Hold, HeartattaCk, Against Me!, and more! A fun read.
Keith is a fabulous storyteller and has stories to tell! Plenty about being broke beyond broke, getting into brawls, taking care of his friends, getting drunk, male privilege, and having guns pointed at him. This issue is a downer issue of stories and reviews - his dad just passed away and his girlfriend broke up with him. There's humor relief moments too - buying the new Tim Armstrong album (with some embarrassment) and going to see an old ancient punk band for free. Don't get me wrong, Keith has some knowledge and understanding kicking around his brain, probably from just kicking planet Earth for awhile and he seems to have learned a lot from the hardcore community, doing artwork for Submission Hold, HeartattaCk, Against Me!, and more! A fun read.
A sincere and zealous protestation against the overabundance of motorized carriages together with some suggestions towards the elimination of this scourge in the form of an open letter to all motorists being at once manifesto and manifestation of the outlawed Pedestrian Freedom Front. A bleedin' classic!
