The CIA Makes Science Fiction Unexciting #5 40 pages, 1/4 size, offset (2 oz) $1.50

The latest installment of this pseudo-anonymously penned, informational zine discusses at length the details of Iran/Contra. In 1986 the President was at the helm - secretly selling weapons to our enemies in Iran and then illegally using the profits to fund the anti-Sandinista rebel Contras, in Nicaragua. Relive the excitement - the cake in the shape of a key, world leaders lying through their teeth, and everyone denying responsibility and knowledge that it was even going on in the first place!

Civilization Will Eat Itself 48 pages, 1/2 size, copied (3 oz) * OUT OF STOCK *

An entirely hand done account from a primitivist point of view about utilizing technology while realizing the contradiction, society imposing work and school upon us, and the way Romans at the end wrote history as if their empire wasn't about to crumble. Maybe they didn't realize it or maybe they were trying to prevent the public from realizing it. The good seems new, the bad seems old and accepted, and questionable changes are portrayed as good. The US writes the history books nowadays; are we about to be overtaken by metaphorical Visigoths? It's all hand written in a format that aesthetically reads very nicely. Ran dosen't talk about these things like he's the expert; he explores it like it's a conversation with a friend. Come check out the computer geek who thinks that computers are the downfall of society. A very interesting and exciting read.

Clutch #17/Invincible Summer #11 32 pages, 1/2-legal, offset (3 oz) $2.00

Clutch and Nicole team up for their fifth annual comic split zine! This one covers two weeks in May '06. Clutch spends his days hanging out with friends, making odd observations, and going out on solo escapades around town while trying to not be defeated by daily annoyances such as new shoes that hurt and a messy room. Nicole's everyday consists of getting over a break-up, queer friends, furry & fluffy pets, working on art, and being silly.

Coffeebreath #2 20 pages, screenprinted covers, 1/2 legal (2 oz) $2.00

Charmingly Florida-centric zine from Dave of the band Grabass Charlestons! This issue includes a bunch of great interviews, including one with the band Radon. There's also a discussion with Tom of Against Me! about his plan to live in hotels for a straight year, and one with Travis of America? zine about the differences between living in a communal warehouse, and buying his own home. These interviews work together as a thought-provoking examination of different living styles. There are also some very entertaining sunset reviews. Finally, I'd like to mention that the author has a tattoo that simultaneously depicts coffee and Florida. Let's just say he's committed.

Coffeeshop Crushes #1 32 pages, 1/2 legal, offset (3 oz) $3.00 $2.00

3rd Edition! This is Nicole Georges & Jon Van Oast's compilation zine all about....you guessed it, coffeeshop crushes! Submissions from Nicole (Invincible Summer), Shannon Wheeler (Too Much Coffee Man), Shawn Granton (10' Rule), James Squeaky (Sincere Brutality), Lizz Zitron, Greig (Clutch), Aaron Renier (Spiral Bound), "Rainman", Nate Beaty (Brainfag), Brad Adkins (Charm Bracelet), as well as MANY anonymous pieces (go figure!). About half of this zine is comics and the other half is short stories. The most entertaining parts to me were the articles on the sexual nature of a few coffeeshops' webpages and a comic about a boy who worked in a coffee shop and his story that suddenly jumps into graphic sexual drawings and depictions. You already know you want this. Do yourself the favor.

Here's to hoping this will restock in the near future? The description alone makes me smile, and I'd love to find a copy and read it myself. Roe
I totally flippin' relate to this zine. There's something about an individual serving me caffeine that makes them so much more appealing. Rawr. Sarah

COINTELPRO: The Danger We Face 40 pages, 1/2 size, copied (3 oz) $2.00

This booklet explains the unconstitutional danger that Cointelpro poses on our nation. It is a branch of the FBI whose sole function is to undermine the work of activists seeking social change, or basically anyone fighting for some kind of social change. This booklet contains the history of Cointelpro and how its existence came to light in the public view. Also includes documentation of the fact that it still operates despite Supreme Court orders to destroy it, instructions to dismantle it, how to protect ourselves and our movements from Cointelpro infiltration, and swinging public support to oppose it. Well written and very informative.

Aaron's description of his travels, life, houses, and culture. Very instrumental and influential in shaping zine making today. #48 is a collection of interviews from people who have left cities called "Back to the Land". Aaron has an amazing ability to explain and glamorize things in punk that most of forget or begin to take for granted. He makes sex in a dumpster sound like something to seek out. He makes me want to kiss in the rain. He makes a horrible tour sound like a great experience. He turns broken bones and horrible injuries into a great metaphor for appreciating life. Commune in Chiapas: Mexico and the Zapatista Revolution 56 pages, 1/2 size, copied (4 oz) $5.00

An excellent in-depth analysis of the Zapatista rebellion and movement, from the English ultra-left journal Aufheben. It provides a good overview of class warfare in Mexico, and specifically delves into the class composition and struggles of the Indigenous people of Chiapas. Particularly interesting is the critical appraisal of the EZLN, their supporters, and their critics from the 'ultra-left'.

I highly recommend this one, everybody. Great photos, (though a tiny bit hard to make out, it is only toner, after all) but a pongiant essay. Seth
I'd like to get a copy of this, if it was in stock. solorebellion

Conspiracy in Coal 40 pages, 1/2 size, copied (3 oz) $2.00

Originally a labor article in Washington Monthly, this 1960s zine brings to light safety violations of mining companies from the period - Methane gas problems, collapsing, rock dusting, and owners denying that there was any foreshadowing after an accident happens. Definitely brings to mind the saying, "the more things change, the more things stay the same", - especially in light of the mine disaster of 2007.

Couch Tag #1 24 pages, 1/4 size, copied (1 oz) * OUT OF STOCK *

A series of long lost history from Jesse Reklaw's youth - some mean kids who killed some goldfish, a crazy dream about him and his sister buying a VCR from Al Gore, and some illustrated letters from his grandmother that were ten years apart and have very different tones to them. Overall, it's a great slice of life into a real person and flows quite naturally.

Cramhole!: because everyone everywhere is totally fucking annoying 35 pages, b&w, 8.5x6.25 (3 oz) $3.00

We ordered this based on other reviews we read and we weren't disappointed! Cramhole says that any similarity to persons living or dead is coincidental. It can't possibly be true because this comic more accurately captures the annoying houseguest experience than any other story we've ever read. I laughed out loud every time I turned the page. There's also two bonus short comics, one about the phenomenon of documentaries about punk, and the other about Betty White. If you don't mind a little negative humor, you should really pick this up.

Craphound #6: Deaths, Telephones, and Scissors! 100 pages, full size, offset (11 oz) $12.00

In case you missed it the first time around, Crap Hound -- A Picture Book for Discussion and Activity is, between a brief introduction and the end credits, pure imagery. Each page is filled with high-contrast line art, culled from vintage catalogs, advertising, obscure books, and found ephemera. Through sheer volume of artfully arranged iconography, issue No. 6 visually explores the popular meaning, cultural ideals and historic symbolism of Deaths, Telephones, and Scissors. Perfect for zine makers, graphic designers, tattoo artists, or just someone who needs a specific, perfect image. Sean has a tremendous ability to scour for such things and the results are stunning. Time and again I'm amazed by the genius employed in just collecting clip art. Alex used quite a bit of the guts of Craphound for the layout in Stolen Sharpie Revolution. Bootlegs were circulating and now the entire series is slowly reprinting!

It is what it says- everything you need in the way of phones, scissors, or death-related images! simonJester
