First buttons are printed out on sheets on our HP Laserjet 2300
Next, Alex cuts them out from sheets so they can fit through the paper cutter.
Once they are cut out they are run through the paper cutter and each piece of artwork is cut out as a perfect circle.
Now the buttons are ready to be assembled. Alex places the "hubcap" piece into the machine, followed by the artwork, and mylar (to protect it from water).
In one motion the machine winds the artwork and mylar around the hubcap creating the wraparound edge of the button.
Finally, the "ring" and "pin" pieces are placed and the machine compresses all of the parts together showing a feat of strength that no human could accomplish.
Viola, a finished button! Imagine the process of making 500 or 1000 of these in a row.
